Andatel Group Back from Two Tours Abroad with Phuket Travel Association

Andatel Grande Patong Phuket, an established hotel in Patong, recently got back from two roadshow tours abroad with the Phuket Travel Association.

Novosibirsk, Russia - October 20, 2019 /MarketersMedia/ —

The roadshow is a part of the Tourism Authority of Thailand's programs to showcase the country's tourist offerings, included a number of other Phuket hotels, resorts, properties, and delegates.

The roadshow was held between August 5 - 9 in three Siberian cities, which were Novosibirsk, Krasnoyarsk, and Irkutsk in Russia. Andatel Grande Patong Phuket was also part of the road tour in Vietnam, where they visited two cities, which were Hanoi and Ho Chi Min. Early next year, the hotel's general manager and representative will also join the Phuket Travel Association's roadshow in India.

Business to business interactions were conducted between Phuket sellers and Russian buyers, which included travel agents and tour operators.

Funded by the Phuket Provincial Administration Organization, the road show was meant to increase tourist arrivals from Russia, which is considered to be the highest single-source market for tourists among all European countries. In 2018, numbers from the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) show that 1.47 million Russian tourists visited the country, which saw an increase of 9% from the previous year. With this number of arrivals, the income generated from this market source is said to have reached B150 Billion in revenue.

During the first quarter of 2019, however, the TAT saw a decline in Russian arrivals, and several factors were seen to be the cause of such decrease. One of which is the rising costs in Thailand, which may have led Russian tourists to choose cheaper destinations instead; as well as the increase of costs of living in several Russian cities; as well as aggressive tourism marketing strategies of European destinations that are nearer to Russia with shorter air travel time compared to Thailand, wherein a direct flight could last for 6 hours.

Andatel Grande Patong Phuket, along with its contemporaries, are continuously pushing Phuket as the go-to destination for families, honeymooners, and backpackers, who wish to explore the culture, nature, and activities that make Thailand the number one travel destination in the world.

Andatel Grande is part of the Apex Hotel Group, which includes two other Phuket hotels, which are: the Mirage Express Patong Phuket Hotel, and the Phoenix Karon Beach Hotel. All located within close proximity to beaches, the group of hotels cater to different markets who travel to Phuket.

Andatel Grande Patong Phuket is currently doing minor renovations to better serve its guests and patrons. Established and built in 2001, the hotel underwent major renovations in 2012. Since April 2019, the hotel has also begun minor renovations, which include changing bathroom equipment, changing tiles in certain parts of the building, changing paintings on hallways, and updating their linens, pillow cases, and bedding.

The minor renovations are said to be completed by the end of October, just in time for the Phuket high season of November to February each year. During peak season, Phuket is packed with tourists who visit the island during its best weather conditions most suited for the vast array of beach activities.

Streep, Miranda and Stone are named as Met Gala co-0chairs

Nov 17, 2019

NEW YORK — Next year's Met Gala may be the closest we'll ever come to getting a Miranda Priestly moment at the starry event. Meryl Streep has been named as a co-chair of the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute. The Oscar-winner played Priestly, a thinly veiled fictional version of Vogue editor Anna Wintour, in the movie "The Devil Wears Prada." Wintour clearly has no hard feelings because she selected Streep as a co-chair along with Lin-Manuel Miranda and fellow Oscar-winner Emma Stone. Designer Nicolas Ghesquiere rounds out the group. The gala's theme is "About Time: Fashion and Duration," which...

Congress approves bill expanding animal cruelty law

Nov 17, 2019

WASHINGTON — Congress has passed a bill making certain types of animal cruelty a federal felony. The bill would expand a 2010 law that made creation or distribution of so-called "animal crushing" videos illegal. The new bill would make the underlying acts of cruelty a federal crime. The Senate unanimously passed the Preventing Animal Cruelty and Torture Act on Tuesday, two weeks after the House passed it on a voice vote. Florida Reps. Ted Deutch and Vern Buchanan sponsored the bill. Deutch, a Democrat, said it "sends a clear message that our society does not accept cruelty against animals" and...

Demonstrators demand halt to killings of women in Mexico

Nov 17, 2019

MEXICO CITY — Relatives of women and girls murdered or missing in Mexico marched through the capital Sunday carrying over 100 purple crosses inscribed with the names of victims, demanding justice for their loved ones and improved efforts to investigate their cases. Bearing T-shirts and signs with photos of the victims, they walked behind banners and chanted the victims' names as they headed for the sprawling main square, the Zocalo, to set up an offering near a massive altar erected to mark Dia de Muertos, or Day of the Dead. "Not one more killed!" they cried. "Our daughters, where are...

3-2-1-Cookoff! Astronauts to bake cookies with new test oven

Nov 17, 2019

CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. — Forget reheated, freeze-dried space grub. Astronauts are about to get a new test oven for baking chocolate chip cookies from scratch. The next delivery to the International Space Station — scheduled for liftoff this weekend — includes the Zero G Oven. Chocolate chip cookie dough is already up there, waiting to pop into this small electric oven designed for zero gravity. Sample cookies baked just this week are also launching from Virginia on Northrop Grumman's Cygnus capsule, for the six station astronauts. The experiment explores the possibility of making freshly baked items for space travelers. With...
