New Report, "How Long Does It Take To Write A Book?", Debunks Time Trap Myth

Oct 31, 2026

Authority Acquisition has released a report finding that the common belief about book-writing time is a myth. The firm’s position is that duration is a function of process, and that the timelines quoted online describe an older way of writing.

Torrance, United States, October 31, 2026 /NewsNetwork/ -- Authority Acquisition, a strategy firm serving nonfiction authors and subject-matter experts, has released a new report on the question practitioners ask most often before starting a book, and on the belief that sits underneath it.

The belief, which the firm calls the Time Trap, is usually stated plainly: That busy experts just don't have enough time to write their books. The report's response is equally plain. The problem isn't about time. It's about process.

To make the distinction, the report asks readers how long it takes to cross the United States. Six months is a correct answer. So is six days. So is six hours.

None of those answers is wrong, and none of them is a measure of effort. Six months was the honest duration of a crossing by wagon. Six days is the honest duration by car. Six hours is the honest duration by plane. The distance never changed. The destination never changed. The traveler was never lazy. What changed was the process available.

This is the point the report presses on, because it reframes what a timeline actually measures. A wagon crossing taking six months was not a failure of the traveler. It was the accurate cost of the best process of its era.

The report then applies the same logic to book writing. The timelines circulating online, the ones quoted in article after article, describe a particular process: draft from a blank page, discover the structure while writing, and revise toward clarity. For that process, the firm allows, those numbers may well be honest. They are simply measuring the wagon.

The report adds a second finding about those numbers. No credible published dataset addresses how long it takes to write a book. The figures on the first page of search results trace back to sources that disclose no survey, sample size, or methodology. One widely shared article advertises real data from more than a thousand authors and provides none of the documentation that the claim would require. The nonfiction word-count standards repeated across publishing blogs are industry convention rather than research findings.

What the firm argues has changed is the writing process itself, and it is careful about the claim it attaches to that. With the right process, the report says an author can write faster without sacrificing quality. Speed is presented as a consequence of sequence, not of working harder or accepting less.

The sequence the firm teaches begins with the reader rather than the manuscript. An author identifies the reader's critical problem as the starting point, clarifies the transformation the reader wants as the ending point, and then uses their expertise to build a clear step-by-step roadmap between the two. The firm calls that roadmap the reader's bridge of transformation, and treats it as the work that makes drafting possible rather than a preliminary to it.

The report points to one detail from the firm's own materials as evidence that the sequence does the heavy lifting. Roughly twenty-five AI tools, built on forty years of professional writing and instructional design, support the path. The step called Manuscript Drafting has none. Every other step does. By the time an author arrives at that step, the reader is defined, the method is mapped, the teaching is structured, and the stories and activities exist, so the work is weaving those pieces into a cohesive draft rather than inventing them.

The report also addresses why the time belief survives contact with evidence. The firm distinguishes blocks from gaps. Blocks are internal barriers such as limiting beliefs, unresolved issues, and counterproductive behaviors. Gaps are external and come from a lack of something: time, money, knowledge, skill, or support. Both are secondary problems rather than the critical one underneath. Lack of time is a gap, which makes it the easiest kind of problem to name, because naming it points outward and requires no self-examination.

The three pitfalls the firm identifies as keeping experts and authors stuck are lack of time, lack of clarity, and lack of confidence. In the firm's account, the order is diagnostic rather than a ranking. Clarity produces the other two, and gaining clarity raises confidence.

The report's case study is Sarah Lange, a nonprofit fundraising expert who came to the work carrying three of the problems the firm treats as typical: a business too busy to interrupt, decades of material too abundant to curate, and more possible audiences than one book can serve. After restructuring her approach around a Book Ecosystem, she described the difference in her own terms. Her last book took her about six months. The next one, she said, had taken her six hours so far, and she bet Authority Acquisition founder Licia Rester she could finish it in under 72 hours.

Same author. Same expertise. A different process.

Asked for a figure, the firm gives one, with a qualification. The average is a couple of months, and most of that goes to learning and mapping the method rather than writing the manuscript. The firm presents that as an average rather than a promise, and argues the number matters less than the point beneath it. An author who says there is no time to write a book is usually describing the wagon, not a shortage of hours.

Authority Acquisition organizes its approach as the Author-to-Authority Roadmap, which moves through three phases named Clarify, Build, and Launch, and applies Transformation Marketing, a framework built around connecting, inspiring, and serving readers.

Putting skin recovery at the heart of beauty care

Skin recovery took center stage at a gathering of dermatologists, cosmetic surgeons and aesthetic practitioners in Taguig City, where a discussion on barrier care connected skincare science with the experiences and professional interests of the medical community. Held on October 21 at the Intramuros Tent of Manila House Private Club in Bonifacio Global City, the roundtable discussion brought together the Pan Pacific Aesthetic Institute Foundation, Lamelex, Golden Visa Central and Manila House. Their collaboration provided a setting for scientific learning, professional exchange and conversations about opportunities beyond clinical practice. For the beauty discussion, the emphasis was on caring for the skin barrier, particularly after dermatologic and aesthetic procedures. Dr. Finesse Angelica Evangelista addressed this in her presentation, “The Science of Recovery: Optimizing Barrier Repair in Post-Procedure and Compromised Skin.” Her discussion underscored the importance of skin barrier integrity in supporting recovery. It also placed barrier-focused care within a professional conversation about the needs of skin following procedures or when its condition is compromised. That focus is central to Lamelex’s approach. The brand presented its multi-lamellar vesicle technology, a skincare delivery approach designed to support the skin’s natural barrier structure and ingredient delivery. Its professional skincare offerings combine formulations and protocols intended for barrier-focused care. The technology formed part of the brand’s showcase, which included professional skincare products, testers, merchandising and educational materials. These gave participants opportunities to explore its approach to skin barrier care alongside the scientific discussion. Medical professionals also received product kits for further exploration and evaluation in their respective practices. Catherine Andres-Gamo, chief executive officer of Pretty Skin Lamelin Philippines, expanded the conversation from products to advocacy. Sharing Lamelex’s commitment to scientific education, skincare innovation and collaboration with the medical community, she encouraged participants to become skin barrier advocates. Her message called for greater awareness of barrier-first skincare in clinical practice, linking the brand’s educational efforts with the professionals who assess and care for patients’ skin. The evening brought that advocacy into direct conversation with dermatologists, cosmetic surgeons and other aesthetic practitioners. The foundation, meanwhile, provided a platform for professional exchange within the aesthetic medical community. Manila House hosted the gathering, bringing professionals from different fields into a shared setting for learning and relationship building. Alongside the skincare discussions, Golden Visa Central founder and president Vicky Luis introduced international investment opportunities and wealth diversification. Her presentation offered participants perspectives on long-term financial planning beyond their clinical work, extending the evening’s scope to their broader professional and personal interests. The gathering linked these different areas through partnerships among the foundation’s leadership, Golden Visa Central, Manila House and the Lamelex team. Each contributed expertise to a forum that combined clinical interests with opportunities for professional growth. For Lamelex, the continuing direction is to build its community of skin barrier advocates through scientific education and continued collaboration with medical professionals. The roundtable provided one setting for that exchange, bringing its products, technology and barrier-care message to practitioners who could explore and evaluate them for use in their respective practices.

Jewelry for every side of a woman

Jewelry for every side of a woman

Jewelry passed from mother to daughter carries more than gemstones and gold. For designer Kristine Dee, it also holds the stories behind each piece, including her mother’s purchase to celebrate a hard-earned business deal. Those personal connections inspire “Modern Heirloom,” one of three chapters in “The Woman Within,” her collection exploring the different sides of a woman through fine jewelry. Its three chapters, “Modern Heirloom,” “Quiet Strength” and “Playful Femininity,” move from sentiment to assurance to joy. Each reflects a side of a woman that Dee has observed in her clients and herself. “They try out other styles which are not their usual, and the choice follows their emotions, what they felt at that time, how that particular jewelry piece made them feel when worn. Each capsule collection shows the different versions we, as women, find ourselves in.” For “Modern Heirloom,” Dee draws on her mother Elizabeth’s practice of passing jewelry to her daughters, along with the memories behind it. Among them is a piece Elizabeth bought after closing a business deal she had worked hard to secure. “It is not just the piece that she shared, but the story that comes with them,” Dee says. That sense of continuity takes shape in classic gemstones and versatile designs. Multicolored sapphire and diamond necklaces hang from substantial gold-ball chains. A pearl necklace features diamonds and a detachable kunzite centerpiece, allowing the wearer to move between dressier and more casual looks. “Quiet Strength” turns toward architecture, emphasizing line, proportion and structure. Smooth gold surfaces, curves and carefully placed diamonds give rings and cuffs their presence. Dee’s background in industrial design informs this attention to form and how a piece sits on the body. “Each millimeter matters,” she says. A softer mood emerges in “Playful Femininity.” Mint tourmaline, pink spinel and diamonds appear in linked elements that sway with the wearer, while a coordinating ring allows for stacking. Elsewhere, a hand-carved mother-of-pearl ribbon flows into waves of rubies and diamonds. Across the collection, gemstones are set in 14-karat and 18-karat white, yellow and rose gold. Many designs bear the names of loyal clients, relatives and friends, extending the personal connections behind the jewelry. For Dee, their place is in everyday wardrobes. Statement necklaces can accompany a tank top and jeans or a dress, while rings and cuffs can be layered to suit the day. “The best way to style fine jewelry for a woman is based on her lifestyle and personality, so she can reach for them day after day, comfortably and confidently, and wear them in more ways than one.” The collection is available at the Kristine Dee showroom in BGC, Taguig City, with resizing and customization offered. A Power Plant Mall pop-up runs from Nov. 7 to Jan. 28, 2027, bringing the collection’s expressions of memory, strength and joy into women’s daily choices.
